Richard Price is the one of the first “difference makers” to join the Goodchilds franchise team and Richard has already exceeded his commercial targets.

The evidence is overwhelming!

Richard Price was the first “difference maker” to join the Goodchilds franchise team and Richard has already exceeded his commercial targets for the first six months of his business plan.

What’s Richard say?

From my initial thoughts of Franchising with Goodchilds, which to be honest was somewhat rollercoaster with exhilarating moments of business success to reflective moments of what if it all goes wrong, I was supported and advised all the way.

The great thing is when you meet the team at Goodchilds is there is most defiantly no hard sell. They want “good to great people”, that’s true, but above all they want people to want to do whatever an individual chooses and then be fanatical at it with a real passion.

Why a Goodchilds franchise?

I knew I was capable of achieving more for myself and with a growing family this was becoming a major issue for me, but the hierarchy of traditional business was an even bigger concern.

Speaking with friends I had learned that all to often people in many organisations were holding positions for which they were not capable – and those working for them would not get on or pass them by. Ok some of you may say this is not the case but a large population can relate to this scenario and to reiterate my point “you, like me are more capable”

I had decided to do something – but what?

I needed something that would challenge – and reward me of course, but it needed to be sustainable with real growth potential. Property had always interested me and both property sales and residential lettings, as we all know, make the news or press headlines on a weekly basis.

The Goodchilds franchise for me was a natural choice and of course you would be right in thinking that others are providing similar options but when you meet the Goodchilds team, and spend time with them you will become confident with the knowledge that these people want you to succeed and will be with you all the way to facilitate you becoming a “real difference maker” with your own business.

Lessons learned

Well wow! – This for me has been the real test for the Goodchilds team and to be honest they exceeded every promise and unquestionably, just as they state, they go the extra mile.

The lesson for me is “what you know is great” but the surprises that can suddenly emerge, that no traditional training or manual can prepare you for is where the Goodchilds team excel – their commercial experience really comes into it’s own, I often smile at how easy they can make it appear – but with each opportunity my experience grows.

Richard and Staff

Are you really your own boss?

Very much so – but the leadership and commercial relationship that the Goodchilds team hold is refreshing – of course other organisations may have it, but Goodchilds really do wear their values on their sleeve.

In the beginning they will, if you require, lead discussion reviews related to business activity and they’ve actively encouraged me to lead and develop my own business initiatives and you can be sure that if you find you’ve either dried up or exhausted your own thoughts, they will take the process for you many stages further, they have real experience both academically and commercially

I’ve found they have a really inviting “can do” attitude, which is infectious but simple. Like they say “adopt a customer 1st philosophy, believe and have conviction to it – and the rest will follow”

But being my own boss is very real, I’m responsible for business development, my finance’s, the growth of my team of 3 staff and I remind myself that my franchise is a reflection of me, it my signature – it is what I’m also about. The franchise gives me an opportunity to excel with my ability and that of my team and for me the greatest reward is “I really have no excuse or no one to blame for my career development – it really is down to me – and in that I’ve every confidence”

Will it offer you real career opportunity?

Most certainly – but you need to ask yourself the question
“Do you want a job or do you want a career?”

If you grave 9 till 5 and that’s your lot, then you really need to get a job. If however, like me you have a desire to succeed and make a difference in both your personal life and in business then this is most certainly the place to be – and better still, you’ll be surrounded with people of like minds.

What been most encouraging?

Lots really, but I think, perhaps like many others would, that I expected a lot of things to be in place. For instance, I expected that the business would be very real and that training would be provided and that other people would want to make you welcome.

But the wow! factor for me really is the Goodchilds team. When you meet and get to work with them they really do inspire and for example if you raise a negative doubt – which is ok – they really live and breath the Apollo 13 mission in that “failure is not an option” and I smile when they say “of course there’s a way – we just haven’t found it yet” – but they do!

How about funding?

Again, Goodchilds were just great, like many I guess I’d never had any reason to prepare a business plan and the thought that I would present it to an High Street bank was for me, a little more than daunting! The great thing again for me again is that The Goodchilds team take the view that “you don’t know” after all we can’t all be masters at everything and as with the business plan they have in place the facility to support you.

Armed with my prepared business plan I attended a meeting organised by Goodchilds with Lloyds TSB and it followed that I secured 70% funding for my franchise business. The positive experience for me is that if you decide to go forward with a Goodchilds franchise I can now also help you – “Ask me -I’ve experienced it”

From initial thoughts to franchise, to securing funds from Lloyds TSB banking, to going live -- Goodchilds have demonstrated to me their commercial drive and expertise - - I every confidence that I’m part of a real winning team, whilst also controlling my own personal aspirations and future.
